Whether she’s in the boardroom, on the red carpet, or giving an inspiring speech, Jessica Alba doesn’t skimp on style. When the Honest Company co-founder attended the Forbes Under 30 Summit Monday in Boston’s Faneuil Hall, she was all smiles as she took a seat to chat with an audience in a chic LBD.

The actress paired her Victoria Beckham FW16 Wide Rib Signature Crewneck Dress with black strappy heels, wore minimal make-up, aside from a pink lip, and dished on her success and pitfalls as she started her billion-dollar company.

“I was adamant about being a superhero,” Alba said, according to Forbes. “I wanted, as a sick kid, to have superpowers and overcome anything and save the world.” The mom of two suffered from allergies and chronic asthma as a child, and even spent weeks at a time hospitalized with pneumonia.

While she doesn’t have superpowers, Alba, who is now the fourth youngest woman on Forbes’ list of the Richest Self-Made Women In America, did have a genius idea.

She wanted to build a company that would offer “natural and eco-friendly products that weren’t either extortionate or seemingly designed for yurt-dwelling vegan yogis,” she said. Now, that company is valued at $1.7 billion.

Alba’s success hasn’t come without its challenges, though. As of late, there has been criticism about the ingredients in some of the company’s products, but Alba doesn’t appear to be sweating it.

“People are every month getting products delivered to their home,” she said. “We’ve transformed people’s lives. For any entrepreneur out there when you’re faced with challenges, you can’t let them define you.”

As for what people think of her in general, Alba said the way people view her “doesn’t matter much” any more.

She added, “I’ve been able to own my power and take the position that I feel is rightfully mine and be the leader that I’ve always wanted to be.”
